The SC guys here in Toronto swear by MOTUL.

just an observation.
You have to remember that a properly setup SC'd car does not run any hotter than a stock engine. Therefore, it doesn't matter how much power you are pushing, a change to a higher viscosity oil is not necessary. I do however, use the 0W - 40W now since I want as much oil as possible getting to the blower oil line as soon as possible when starting the engine cold. I am currently working on a mod that will eliminate the need for this and then I will be back to 10W - 40W or 15W - 40W.

I'll have to take a look at MOTUL. Thanks.

Cool

1999Porsche911,

'OWS TXI Syntholube SAE 5W-60 is specially developed with OWS Poly Alpha Olefin Synthetic Technology for special applications in high powered 4 stroke modified, turbo charged or supercharged engines.'

Maybe that's why.

We have done a lot of oil changes over the years at our work on cars days in San Jose. Someone usually shows up with 5W-30 because Costco sells it, but does not sell 0W-40 in our area. We put it in, along with brands other than Mobil. All those cars are still running fine.

In almost 6 years of Boxstering I have never seen or heard of a 996/986 engine problem related to oil. Porsche has changed the list of approved oils several times over the years. 5W-30 was an approved oil on the 2000 list, but no longer.
