my996 is infamous around these parts
I've heard great things about switching over to the 997 shifter (ie smoother and shorter throws). Make sure you get the installation jig with it. And I wonder if the GT3 version with the billet Al would be longer lasting, accurate over a greater period of time, etc.

I like the upgrade

It works great and the install was pretty easy. I also did the lingage upgrade from evo.

997 shifter install

I installed the 997 shift and the feel was much better that the 996 shifter. I would recommend the 997 shifter strongly. I also tried the B&M short shifter it was a little harsh for my tastes. I have a B&M for sale if anyone is interested.

Personally if i had not bought my 997 Shifter from Phil @ DD for $100 Shipped i would have bought the Porsche Factory Short Shift Kit insted... After driving my friends 997.1 GT2 and 997.2 GT3 RS several times and the Short Shift Kit is the way to go for the extra $$$... just my 2 cents

I just bought one off ebay for $88 shipped. And it has the green jig thingy. Waiting until I order the GT3 console delete before I install it. Looking forward to it though.

Did it yesterday!

Love it!!!

Part of an overall major upgrade to my 997 (08') by Fabspeed in Ambler, PA. Will post pics and extensive review when I get the chance (i.e. when business, kids or wife will let me take a breath

The best inexpensive upgrade I ever did on a car. Don't even think about not doing it. it's that good!

SSK is very very short and the 997 Shifter Box is very similar to 996 Shifter Box, best to try and find a GT car and try it out...

I'm thinking of doing it as well! Will post. However, does anyone know if first is a bit stickier in colder climates? Here in Switzerland, it's cold most of the year!
