Thasts why i was asking it seems like they are all a ripp off except for maybe Champion or if you know someone at the collection to hook you up at the collection preowned. If I would go the used car route in Miami again I would try to get a private party and have Champion do a PPI

Yep, that's probably the only way I would do it - assuming the private party was the original owner. Also, I'd have the best body shop in town look it over too. Lastly, I'd make sure to get a read out of the computer for Type 1 and Type 2 overrevs since Porsche has been warranty deny happy lately when those are present, and look over all records for service visits in the dealer computer.

Better fall out of love with money...you have no idea of how expensive those cars are to maintain out of warranty.

Marc, are you getting an s or regular 997, just wondering?
BTW, welcome back to the fold, I knew it wouldn't be too long.
FWIW, a 993 C4S could easily become a money pit, be careful. I would get the '03.

Hey I have a 997 on order however I also orderd this past Monday an M3 6-speed w/ the competition package. For the $ I think I am going with the M3, my friend picked up his 997 this past Friday and I drove it, then I drove my other friends M3 and I actually like the roughness and feel of the M3 better that with the addition to my M3 of the Comp Pkg (bigger wheels, brkaes, tighter steering and the racing DSC), I think until I have the $ for a GT3 I will remain Porscheless non the less this forum is still my home for car forums. I aslo started having nightmares about $$$$ and mods to the Porsche the M3 is much more ready out of the box so too speak!

As for Adams996 he called me to check the car for him when he did he told me this will be his only car and he has limited funds thats why I have been telling him as you just did the 993 is not for him I had an "S Coupe" great looking and sweet however not reliable like the 996 cars.

I was always told the contrary by 993 owners saying that the 993s were overbuilt and very reliable, and the 996's were not....any insight? What kind o things make the 993 expensive to own? i am looking at a 96 with 47k miles....and the cleanest carfax and maint. history you've ever seen! Here is the link:

It is not they they were not built well the block is much much better then the 996 engine, thats why the TT and the GT3 use a 993 block. The issue is maintenance costs of an air cooled Porsche as well as the actual cost of non-warranty car. Rmemebr you told me this has to be reliable and it will be a daily driver

I'm glad you had a good experience with Abojo. I am still waiting for my $2000 deposit back that he said would be here a week ago.

For fun, check out their 01 Speed Yellow with Automatic on their web site. Notice how it says everything is perfect on this car. Call Obojo up and listen to him tell you this car is perfect, and has never had any body work done, nothing leaks, the rims are perfect, the interior is perfect. And then have him repeat over and over that his word is good.

Then spend $157 at Champion to verify his claims and get a fax back with "additional sheets attached" because the list of all the things wrong with the car won't fit on the form, including a leaking cooling system, leaking engine oil, leaking transmission fluid, badly bent rim, overspray in the engine comparment, mismatched tires with one about to blow, several non-functional items in the interior, etc, etc, etc...

That's was a painful lesson...

But on the bright side, I have a red 03 that should be here by Tuesday from a better dealer.
