iwire iPod Solution for my 02 996 CR 220 Bose w CD Changer WORKED PERFECT!

Here is the Solution for people who want the ipod in this particular model 996-

i'll try to be as precise as possible so when you find this in the search it can be a good guide

Model: 2002 996 911 (2003 models are a different setup)
Head Unit: CR-220 w/ Bose+CD Changer + Tape Player
iPod used: NANO 16GIG Latest generation *the one with camera*
Solution: http://www.iwirep.com/products/iwirep-220-35mm
Review: Excellent sound-crisp couldn't ask for more- This input does not charge my particular ipod but thats ok i dont care, i do think on older models you can get the wire + Charger- but email them first!

*Make sure to email him first telling him what ipod you will use*

I have to give this product a 5***** Review!

When i bought the 996 Was happy it had a tape player + CD CHanger cuz thought i could just connect my ipod through one of those tape player connector cassettes...WRONG- There was horrible hissing sound plus the Right speakers didn't play.

So i searched for day with BS answers and nothing precise, then found this company in a post here.

Now best way to reach them is email, they never answer the phone (which irritated me at first) but put your order & have faith, it took less than a week to get to me.

Comes with instructions + Tools- I didn't wanna mess with it so i went to a bestbuy & drove to the back where the radio installer guys are, gave them $20 & within 15 minutes they had it working.

The sound is AMAZING- I had ipod integration done to my E60 BMW & Paid $500 & it SUCKED- the sound was low always felt i needed more volume, but this product is PERFECT- Uses your CD changer as your input for the ipod- very very simple DIY even..You lose the CD changer but who cares when you can jam to your ipod!

So thanks iwire http://www.iwirep.com/

I have a 2004 Carrera 4S with Bose sound System and CD Changer, does anyone know if I can use this for an iPod connection? Only $9.95

The eBay item is RCA jacks so you cannot plug you Ipod directly into it. You would need another adapter to go from the RCA to the stereo jack for the Ipod. Becker makes an Ipod adapter that also charges the Ipod. Not sure of the price but here is the link:

http://www.beckerautosound.com/Porsc...CDR%20220.html

With any of these you are using the Aux input on the CDR220 so you will not be able to connect the CD changer in the trunk and the Ipod. To the best of my knowledge no none makes a switch to allow you to go back and forth between the Ipod and the CD changer.

Other than the fact that this needs another wire since it is a RCA adaptor, will this wire work with the CR220 head unit once the cd-changer is disconnected? Do I have to buy the radio removal tools or is there something else i can use to remove the unit to plug this in

Sounds like a good deal if it works with the latest 4G iPhone and iPod touch. I paid $110 + shipping for the Becker cable. Aside from the price of the cable, I am very happy with my setup.

$20 for the Tarek307's harness is a good deal, particularly if you don't want the charging capability. I did not realize that Becker wanted $110 for their harness. You could also use the harness/socket that feeds the CD and splice/rewire it for the connection to the Ipod. You can get the cord you would need at Radio Shack. You could probably even get the recharging capability doing this. I know I have seen the pin diagram for the radio somewhere. Let me see if I can find it. I still think it would be nice to have a switch so that you could have both the CD changer and the Ipod, Then again, I have far more music on my Ipod than I have CD's.

Tarek307 - Go easy on 2001Porsche911, he was only asking a question and may have helped others who might consider the eBay item. This is all a useful exchange of information.
