Has anyone bought this bumper?
I'm thinking about this bumper for my MY99 Cab.
Anybody purchased and installed one?

Also if you look at the Porsche BBD youtube video, you'll see the horrible fitment of their kits.

Thanks for your reply. I don't plan on lowering the car and I've had fiberglass fronts on cars before so I understand the challenges there. I had already watched the video a few times but I don't see the "horrible fitment" issues that you seem to but I'm not an auto body expert. Can you be more specific on what you're seeing?
Have you ever worked with one of their products or spoken with anyone that has?

OK JD I'm not much on long winded typing sessions but it will let know what you're getting into and win me a click on the reputation button , here she goes...
You've got to do fiber/putty work on the tow-hook cover, the outside points where the bumper sits against the light, re-enforce the anchor point by the pumpkins (after shaving those down) and do a whole bunch of fitments, cutting and drilling for where the LED's go, the lip, grills, attachment by the hood etc, etc.
Than you've got the priming, sanding, painting and clear-coat before the final assembly, now because every surface curves in every direction block sanding is basically out... which means chances are pretty good you'll find some waves in the surface (of course after it's been installed) which means (if you're a psycho like me) you've got to have it done all over again!
Now that was with my bumper which is a high quality one (from Wicked Motor Works) compared to the one your looking at, it cost me about 5K with the oem led's, grills and lip + shipping and brokerage.
Also you'll absolutely need to have the oem lip cause it's very forgiving, like Alpine003 said the fiber-glass one is a disaster!
Because the bumper is fiberglass you'll also need to have an M3 film installed on the bumper, that works like magic and negates the negative attributes of the fiberglass, however since there is no M3 computer pattern for this Frankenstein bumper it has to be hand cut on the car by a very, very skilled professional (read $$$).
If you're going to spend this kind of $ on the labour for a bumper you might as well bite the bullet and go for the one I got (of course you still have to add the cost for the electrical of the led's).
So if you're still interested I know Wicked Motor Works do have a 997 GT2 bumper for your car, in total it cost me about 10K
It gets complicated and expensive but if it was easy everyone would be doing it!
I know it's sort of a crazy thing to do...but what a ride!!!!
Good luck!
Sid.

In regards to the wavyness, I have yet to come across any generic name body kit that doesn't have it. I've only seen factory and other top tuners that came with a flawless finish.

Thanks so much for the reply. I knew there had to be someone out there who had some direct experience. I looked at the Wicked product as well.
Your installtion looks great but a little more time and money than I'm looking to put into the car at this point.
Thanks again for taking the time to share your knowledge.

Couldn't of said it better myself but you actually took the time to explain it. You got rep points from me just for that and for the fact that you actually did it the "right" way and not cut any corners. Kudos for you.

Finding the right custom work for your specifically is half the fun so take your time and enjoy the process but remember if something sounds to good to be true...it usually is.
Cheers,
Sid.
