Best Spark plugs? coil packs?

title says it all... Looking for best ones out there, and ofcourse the most bang for the buck.

Also do I need anything else besides the plugs and the coils to do that service?

thanks,
Paul

I have always liked Bosch, my car is a 2000 w/ 89,000 miles & original coils, why do you want to replace the coils?

Arrow Sorry, but...

...have to respectfully disagree w/Bosch as the way to go.

Quality and durability of Bosch over the years has gone down the tubes.

IMHO, Beru plugs and coilpacks would be a much better choice.

ok i see,

Hm, I am wanting to replace the coil packs because its misfiring, but I guess maybe i should first replace the spark plugs, and then replace the MAF as I think the misfire might be caused by that and my K&N intake...

Now when we pull the coilpacks on our cars, you pull off the coil pack, and does the coilpack connect right onto the spark plug? or is there any rubber boots? spark plug connectors? can someone post a link to those..

Thanks,
Paul

I think your 2000 996 has oil tubes between the coil and spark plug. You need to pull them out after you remove the coil. I have read some used a boat plug with a T at the end of the plug to insert and remove the tube.

If your MAF is a problem, you should also have a check engine light with a rough idle.

You may want to change the spark plugs and check to see if any of the coils are cracked. If so, then replace the coils too.

I purchased my spark plugs at Sunset Porsche in Oregon. They are factory plugs made by Bosch. My original ones in my 2003 were Beru. Sunset's price was slightly less than Suncoast at that time.

If you are going to replace the spark plugs, do all 3 stuff. The plugs, the plug tubes and the coil packs. Same exact labor so do it right once. Price is around plugs - ngk for 50. Oem tubes - 30. Beru coilpacks -250. I had them done all separately so had to remove the mufflers 3 times. Not fun.

I currently have NGK BKR6EK waiting to be installed so no review on these.
I have been using another NGK with the single plug...can't recall the part number without any problems.
I think it was the BKR6E's
