quick oil question

my car is down a bit according to the meter and I was wondering if I go to the store and can't find 0w40 would it be ok to put in 1.5 quarts m1 10w40 or 5w40

No problem. You sure you'll need additional 1.5q's though? That's a lot.

Check the dipstick! You shouldn't trust the digital meter.

Either one is fine but i would out it 5w40. What temp zone are you in?

Either is fine. With so much 0W40 already in the car (8+ quarts, even if you're 1-1/2 quarts low), the resulting blend will still be very close to 0W40.

I do recommend that you use the same brand and product line (i.e. Mobil1 5W40 if you already have Mobil1 0W40 in your car), if you can. Using the same brand/product line minimizes any chance of incompatibility.

(FYI, I blend oils regularly in my '02 Cab with zero issues.)

I tried my computer knowing the oil was full and the engine was cool. the computer indicated it needed oil. pull the dipstick.
