Greetings! First post on any forum. Bought new 03 C2 (Lapis blue, Tip, Litronic, PSM) 5 months ago. Read about 6speed on Rennlist, I think. Have hovered around various boards but did not post because I saw lots of mud slinging and elitism. Must say I like what some of you have said. Always read with interest messages from Carlosfromspain, Loren, etc. Congrats to Darren et al for this forum.

No, it's not flat-6.net. I actually had rennlist.com in mind. Flat-6 is very different: many members do not own a Porsche yet, some will probably never own one, some rarely see one for real, and some actually own one (or several...). But as Carlos said, the core members are extremely enthusiastic about Porsche and many know a lot about the brand and even the technology. I visited some guys in Spain a few weeks ago, and gave them their first ride in a 996 Turbo. You should have seen their faces and heard their comments! I probably enjoyed that as much as they did. So yeah, Flat-6 is not in the same league as rennlist.com (and probably 6speedonline.com). Not that one is better than the other, they're just very different.

Now it looks like 6speedonline.com is aiming at the same kind of people as the ones who subscribe to rennlist.com. Both forums even now use the same technology, both are structured the (almost) exact same way, etc. So this is why I'm wondering about the goal of this new board... Don't get me wrong: I don't wanna start a flame war, I'm just wondering...

Greetings,
--Pierre

Good question and I am glad you asked Pierre, This board was brought to Life by Four Porsche Lovers, good people that want to have a place where we can share inforamtion and meet new people that are exactly like ourselves (nuts) Anyway just be patient you will shortly see the difference and why we are going to be around here a long long long time.....cut us some slack it's only been 5 dyas now!

I'm glad to see another resource for Porsche owners and wannabes (we all were once). My first board was Porsche Pete's Boxster Board as I started my Porsche ownership experience with a '98 Boxster. I recently traded that car for a new '03 C2 Cab. Love the power, refinement, and extra room of the new ride. I still have a warm and fuzzy spot for the Boxster, but 6'5" only goes into the Boxster barely and I was glad to have a bit more space in the 911.

All of the forums have trolls, newbies, and the helpful veterans. Each seems to find a niche and following. I highly doubt that two new forums will dilute the mix too badly. I'm glad to have two more places to catch up on news, find some good reference info on upgrades, etc. and add to the mix when I can. Best of luck Darren on the new Porsche place on the net!!

Getting the word out

I will be writing an article for a couple of the Porsche Club Regional Magazines in Florida and I will be mentioning several of the message boards in the article including this one. Why not get the Panorama and look up all the PCA Club Editors which are listed in the back and sent them a personal e-mail, snail mail or phone call to see if they would mention 6speedonline in there next addition. You could even offer to write a small article for them. Most of them are always looking for content for there magazines

Haha. Actually, I appreciated getting the email from the admins here, as I'm not sure how else I would have heard about the new forum. I'm sure there are plenty of people on TOB's who don't visit every day who are thinking "where the heck is everyone?"
I didn't get no SPAM! And I'm still trying to figure out where Loren's supposed new board is. If it is. His tech info was great on funcars.

As for the kids, it depends on whether they're worth listening to. I'd bet most on funcars would have thought I was about 12 years old, if not for the pics showing my very bald head, and those showing my younger sisters.

Loren, you out there?
