Spark Plug Tubes. What a B*tch!
Finally got around to changing out my leaky spark plug tubes and spark plugs. This job is nearly impossible to do with the mufflers in. Being I have muffler bypass pipes that wasn't a problem for me. Your going to need a hand full of small and medium extensions. The most important tool is the transom plug to pull out the tube.I was reading on renntech the the 1" plug might be too small so i got the 1 1/4" and used a dremal to make it to the perfect size.I also used some plumbing grease to grease the O-rings. Porsche wanted $40 for the one they use and i wasn't going for that. I did one at a time so i didn't miss match anything. Went with the order of remove the coil, take out the spark plug and then take the tube out. On the subject of doing the spark plugs a 5/8 magnetic spark plug socket worked wonders. I would rate this a 7 out of 10 on difficulty. I am no pro mechanic but if anyone has any questions on how to do this I will do my best to help you.

On a serious note, I've also had a minor leak suspected to be a spark plug tube. I've been holding off until I do the exhaust so I can tackle it all at once.

Also might want to replace the coils and plugs while you are in there.

My plans are:
mufflers, headers, spark plugs, spark plug tubes, R&R coils, exhaust tips, rear bumper at the same time.

I use a 3/4"-14 NPT tap to get them out. I run the motor to get the warm , pull the coil off and thread the tap in and then pull it out by the tap with a pair of pliers. Dont have to thread the tap in very hard , just enough to grab into the plastic a bit.
