What is the best nav/cd unit on the market?

Hi...just wanna know what is the best nav/cd unit on the market?
I have currently Pioneer DEH-P800PRS unit for audiophiles and i'm very happy with the sound. The auto time aligment and and equalizer options.Copper body, super tuner and more.
For my coming long trips i would like to have navigation integrated and thinking of getting double din unit but i don't wanna loose any of the audio superb quality from my current unit.
Is anything out there what will satisfy me?

I have read that for sound... alpine. but, kenwood is very close after and very good also, and they use Garmin gps which is by far the best.

Pioneer Premiere series is very good but I would also look into Eclipse.

Really you can't go wrong with Alpine either but they left a little funny taste in my mouth when they started their GPS units that had the funky Blackbird GPS handheld that was integrated into their indash double din units.

I'm extremely satisfied with my Kenwood. The sound quality is excellent, but I believe that's due more to the Focal amp and speakers than to the Kenwood unit. The Garmin GPS is very good too.

Did they improve on the UI(user interface) on the more recent Kenwood's? I know when I was looking awhile ago, the lack of user intuitive interface was the deal breaker for me at that time.

I have pioneer premier in my truck and hate the nav in there.
Only option is kenwood dnx 9960 for me because it have garmin nav.
I like alpine as well but don't know what gps they use.
Other option is to leave my cd player and buy some really good garmin nav.
i'm just scare to lose sound quality in my system by swaping the HU.

There is a very recent thread discussing this. I wasn't sure to get Kenwood or a Pioneer, both get good reviews. I read all reviews on Amazon on both units and decided on Kenwood. Haven't installed it yet so cannot give feedback yet.

They have improved it compared to some of the earlier Kenwood units that I've seen. However, it's still not perfect. The touch screen buttons are quite small, and some basic functions require multiple button pushes. Once you get used to it, it's pretty easy, but it's not as intuitive and simple as an OEM system. That being said, it's worth it for all the features that you get. I particularly like the DNX 6960 because it has a **** to control volume, as well as a "src" button that allows you to easily change between Sirius, iPod or any other source. There is a remote control that came with the system also. At first, I thought it was cheesy and I didn't use it. I've actually now gotten into the habit of keeping it in the cubby under the head unit, and pulling it out to use for simple tasks like forwarding a song on the iPod. It's actually quite useful.

Unfortunately, Eclipse is out of business. I have had Eclipse units in multiple cars and they have always been tops. For Nav units, I have been using Kenwood single DIN with the outboard NAV unit which has been made by Garmin in my NSX and prior M3 and they have always worked well and were easy to use. Have an Eclipse unit in the Allroad and it is pretty easy, less intuitive as compared to the Kenwood.

I went to the shop today and played with the 9960 and a discontinued 9140. The sound quality as far as I could tell in the shop was really no different. The interface in the 9140 was easier with combined touch screen and actual buttons, not completely touch screen like the 9960. There was delay on the 9960. The 9980 was supposed to be there but not in yet. Both had slow boot. Alpine and Sony have their own navigation and they aren't as good as either the Pioneer or the Kenwood. Debating now whether to get an old 9140 or possibly a non-integrated double din which will therefore boot faster.

I just decided to not go for double din yet..I cannot get over the look of double din in 996 it is just too much for my taste but the features they offer are bugging me

I have the Kenwood 9960 in my Porsche and the pioneer equal in my mazda. The Pioneer is nice and has relatively quick response time. It also allow you to fully operate your Ipod as well as stream Pandora. The kenwood I like best because of the built in amp and the Garmin nav. I do not like the slow reaction time on the Kenwood but I guess you cannot have everything.
