Wood Dash Laminate Cracking

Wood Dash Laminate Cracking
2000 996 Cab: Has dark rootwood kit throughout.
2nd time major sections have become warped & cracked.
Has anyone found a quality alternative maintaining a wood facade?
Any high end restorer/fabricator that can recondition the pieces to actually last?

IMHO, and in response to your condition that the "pieces actually last," the short answer is not likely. Being an enthusiast woodworker, among other things, I know that real wood swells and contracts. Veneers tend to not swell and contract as much but they still do. As great as any wood install in a car might look in the beginning, it continues to deteriorate in appearance in cars because they get hot and cold and hot and etc. causing the swelling and contracting to be more pronounced than in a house. So, while you might find someone (and the job itself is fairly simple) to install new veneers or maybe touch up the old ones, you'll still face the same problem at some point later on. However, there are alternatives.
There are two alternative applications I have seen: (1) don't use real wood veneers but instead a wood substitute that mimics the wood "look." These don't look as good but are good enough, and they generally don't crack or warp. (2) Take the wood off and paint the parts. I used the latter alternative - it works great. And, if I accidentally scratch it, I can always take the panel off and respray it.
Good luck with whatever you decide.
