Lubricating the spoiler

Lubricating the spoiler
I was in the garage playing around with my 911 and when I raised the spoiler, it seemed a little squeaky and in need of lubrication. Can anyone offer input on what to lubricate it with and where to apply it? Thanks!

My dealer did mine years ago. The receipt noted "WD40." Since then, I will spray WD-40 in the gear arm area on both sides. Just be careful of overspray. It seems to work well.
An alternative is dry spray lube like Liquid Wrench Dry Lubrication.

I had to do this a few months ago. I believe there are some oil holes on each of the rams that raise the wing. Oiling just the gears did not do the trick for me. I used WD-40 and it's still silent.

Remember that WD40 is not really a lubricant. It is great for freeing up frozen pieces and cleaning things, but ultimately it actually removes the oil/lubricant so you should actually use a lubricating oil after using the WD40.

You don't have to use anything after WD40 it will lubricate just like jeneric said, use it and the squeaks will go away.
I actually have used WD40 over 8 months ago, and no problems since. Just hit up all of the moving parts carefully, letting it go up and down several times then clean up overspray and your done.

I used a Dupont silicon based lubricant...it did nothing...I'm boggled. Aside from the hinges and the two things on either side under the spoiler that slide in and out, I can't find anything else to lubricate. I guess I'm going to switch to WD-40 and go from there.

Get you some WD40 with the straw so you can get to the hard to reach places. Take off the painted portion of the spoiler and you should be able to see all of the hinge points. It might take working the spoiler up and down sand re-oiling several times but it will eventually clear it up. Just make sure you get each side of the hinge points, because the more I looked the more I realized how many points I missed.
Good luck.
