Wheels on an Arctic Silver C4S
#18
On the subject of stock wheels.
When I got my C4S, I upgraded to 19" 997 GT3RS wheels, almost straight away.
After having them on for a few months, I'm coming to think that the stock twists are the best looking wheels you can have on this car. It's not so much the design, gt3RS wheels look awesome, but I'm now very positive that the best size (both aesthetically and functionally) for the 996 is 18s.
So my vote goes to the twists, lowered and spacer'd!

What is everyone's take on 18s VS 19s? I see that there are a lot of tire options if you go with 18". Price is the obvious plus for 18". Is there any advatages other than looks to go with 19" over 18"?

For most of us, I would think, it is about looks. It seems most agree that the wheel/tire size incorporated by Porsche for your particular model is the best performance wise. Speaking for myself, I decided to go the 19's because it's what I liked and not based on performance.
As much as I would like to think I will track the car, if and when I do, it will be strictly for an experience and not become a habit. I did keep my 18's just in case and I would re mount them for that purpose.
**There was an older gentleman, a Porsche owner, who was dating 3 women and had reached a point that he had to decide on one alone. He devised a test to help him in his decision that required each woman to invest a sum of money and at the end of one year he would consider the results and make his choice.
The first gal invested in an income property and despite the downturn in the market managed a 10% return on investment and acquired a desirable property.
The second opened a restaurant, provided herself with a good job and managed a substantial profit after all expenses.
The third became a day trader and doubled her investment!
Which one did he choose?
The one with the biggest breasts!**
Moral of the story.... it isn't all about performance.....Looks count!

Great analogy but just because she looks the best with the biggest breasts as you say, it doesn't mean she performs the best when being driven in bed. Looks do count but when they can't perform, where is the excitement?

19's for the Daily Driving Street and GTG/Meets & 18's for the Track and planned midnight fun runs on the highway involving other cars and video camera :P
Champion Motorsport RG19's 8X19 & 11.5X19 WB Offset...
RG19's have been discontinued but RG5's are very similar and are still avaliable

After a well thought out debate on 18 vs 19, I've decided to go with 19" as they say "size does matter". What tire options am I left with? Assuming I go with 235/35 and 315/25. I don't see anything on tire rack besides the Michelin. What other brands come in that size?

i run 295/30/19 on my 19x11 and it works fine w/o looking stretched.

I won't run into any issues going with a higher side wall? I hear the rolling diameter needs to be no more the 5% difference on the all wheel drives. I would prefer to go with 305/30 as we have lots of pot holes her in New England.
