996 stroker kit

Ok guys I know this has been discussed before but I'm a little confused as to what there is out there for this. I have a 99 with the 3.4L and want to go to a 3.8L or 4.0L. Without sarcasm please can you guys tell me what there is out there as a kit. I already have the tech's to install and the machine shop if needed. The confusion is that I thought a stroker kit would consist of: Larger crank, rods and pistons. However, I have talked to one particular vendor who said I need the cylinders and pistons. If you guys can help me would be great! This car is strictly a track car so save the "why not get a turbo" comments. Thanks again!!!!

The most you can bore a 3.4L out to is 3.6L which is only a 20-40HP gain. And the cost to R&R Engine and Bore it and pistons would push $7000-$10,000. Your best choice is a Single Turbo Kit from TPC or Twin Turbo Kit from IMA. Both will give you @150HP gain for the same price.

like said above you wont be able to bore the 3.4 past a 3.6. But there is a sponsor that builds the 4.0, you may be able to buy one from them, if I remmeber correctly it was like 25000. Then you would just have to get the supporting mods to make it run. I would bet in the grand scheme of things youd be better off selling your current ride and getting a 996 cup car.

Thanks for the info! I thought a stroker kit would be cheaper than a supercharger or turbo kit. Ok I guess I just got educated on these kits. I won't spend 10k on any of these mods its completely ridiculous how they price these mods. You are right, might as well buy a cup car!!!

$5000.+labor for cylinder sleeves & pistons will get you to 3.6, + bigger stroke crankshaft gets you to 3.8, + 3.6 crankcase gets you to 4.0
