$1665 for LN IMS, Oil, Filter, Case Bolts, Seal Rings, RMS, Cam Plug, PP & bolts
Plus tax from an independent P specialty dealer...
Was just quoted this...sounds like a good deal...includes all these parts and labor plus the regular warranties...
Is this too good to be true?

Sounds like the cost of the parts list. The transmission needs to come out. This job should be the same labor rate as a clutch job and being that the bearing kit is roughly $600 the price doesn't seem right.

They said that the engine doesn't need to come out, and that the LN kit they would get was around 550, not the 850 one that requires the tranny to come out...
Do I need the full upgrade kit? Or would the 550 one help?

Not impossible at that price. I did my own. I would recommend adding an AOS replacement while they are there depending on mileage and age of your car.

An indi near me quotes about the same. I'll bet shops that do the IMS upgrade in partnership with LNE get some sort of discount on the parts. The rest is labor. $1000 is still quite a few bucks to me for labor..........Remember that $1600 does not include the clutch or pressure plate....as long as your in there......you might think about it.

This seems to be in line with what i've seen. It seems to me that both labor rates and hour rates for pcars is excessive compared to most cars. But apparently we've got the money to pay for it right?

In my area, the labor rates for my Porsche are pretty much the same as they are for my BMW and the Mercedes I used to own, and only slightly higher than the rates for my Volkswagens. Someone once said to me that these cars were not cheap new, so why would anyone expect them to be cheap to repair when they are used?
