997 GT3-style bumper on my 996

After a failed turbo-style bumper attempt, I've decided to go with the polyurethane GT3 style bumper. It's the Extreme Dimensions bumper from ebay. It is very nice (although a bit heavy), but it is definitely well made. I've already bought the 997 side markers and the turn signals. Does anyone have the turn signal wires diagram so that I can hardwire the 997 lights to my factory turn signals? I've going to paint my headlights, and only leave the oval headlights, similar to the 997 look, so I'm moving the turn signal and fog lights down to the bumper. I'm also installing the MK1 aerokit sides and back as well. Wish me luck with all this!

looks very nice..we'll be twins pretty soon once she's done...lol...u don't need a wiring diagram...you'll just have to cut the turn signal wire, extended with some longer wires enough to reach the 997 light..here's one of my thread about the painted headlight & turn signal: Painted headlights
(page 2 have a few pics that I extended the wires for the turn signal)
I did the same way for the parking lights as well

Man, I was hoping you would respond! I tried to PM you, but my total posts aren't high enough yet. lol.

I am hoping to splice into the wire harness before it enters the headlights…that way the headlights would still pop in and out without wires attached to them. That should be possible, right?

I'm also probably going to convert all my lights to LEDs, not sure where they'll all end up, but I'll keep you posted.

I took with the easy route...cut the old signal light wires & extended with longer wires using the male & female connector for easy removal whenever I want to remove the headlight..my parking lights are LED..I'm planning on changing out the foglights to LED soon..Good Luck with the project..

fog lights

I am doing the same thing you are, I am rep;lacing the two fenders and the bumper, I have almose the same bumper grille, can you give me the part number for the fog/signal lights, thought it was the 997.1 or is there a generic somewhere, what are you using? I think I will just slice the wiring harness to the lights, but have to seen a connector fro a 996 harness to the 997 lights?
Thanks again, let me know how yours goes maybe we can compare notes

Why are you replacing the fenders? I picked up my OEM 997 signal lights off ebay for around $100.00 the pair….I believe. I also rewired my fog lights (I bought aftermarket HIDs) into the signal/fog light.

I need to update this picture, because my headlights have been painted, so now they look oval.

Question for you guy, I also have the Extreme Dimensions 997GT3 style front bumper but had a heck of a time fitting the 997 sidemarkers. The factory 996 mount behind the bumper does not work with the 997 sidemarker metal clip. What did you guys do to fix this? Mine sidemarkers still do not fit 100% even with some modifications I have done.

I'm not really a fan of mixing 996/997 parts. But this one looks good, maybe it's the yellow.

Hmmm….not really sure, mine went on pretty easily as I recall and I didn't have to make any mods to it. (Although I may have forgot or the bodyshop may have had to do some work.) However, the turnsignal/foglights were a PITA! I had to cut some of the black "ducting" that sits right behind it so that the lights would fit.

Thanks man. I just had to get rid of the Boxster smiley face up front….and I like the more aggressive look, plus I got it really cheap on ebay.

997 foglights

I really like those foglights, do you have a part number and where you got them, I am doing the full 997 (round headlights) thats why I got new fenders, I was wondering can I use the same wiring and just splice them into the new headlights - Thanks for the info

I know this is old, but I got the same front bumper. What did you guys use for wiring turn signals/foglights and the duct work to radiators.

Since this is back up here, anyone have any comments on how much time it took the bodyshop to fit, or how well the bumper has held up to driveways?

easy way if you don't mind ruin your headlights is to cut & splice your turn signals & fog lights wires..have it extended down to the 997 signal lights...pics below are for turn signal but same procedure for foglights as well...just make sure you have enough length so you can remove it easily. or use a male/female connector like I did.
