Just bought a 2000 C4 996 :) spoiler question

I don't have the owners manual for my new 2000 cabriolet C4. I need to buy one online but I have a question about the rear spoiler.

When I start the car a light on the dash lights up and then goes away regarding the spoiler. Is this normal?.

I can raise and lower the spoiler manually without a problem.

What speed does it automatically go up and do I know if it comes up on it's own? Is a light supposed to turn on when it goes up automatically?

Love this car!

That is completely normal. It goes out when the car goes into gear. Also, you should be able to pick up your owner's manual from any Porsche dealer. I paid $40 for mine vs. a lot more on Ebay.

Thanks for the reply.... They are expensive on EBay surprisingly.

Do you know what speed it goes up and is there an indicator while you are driving that it is up?? I might have to get my wife to chase me down the freeway to see if it is working!!

It goes up at 75 mph / 120 kmph. There is no indicator on dash but you can look back from rear window. You should see a little bit of the spoiler is up at the bottom.

Check out Suncoast Porsche online (a board sponsor) for good prices on owners manuals. You should be able to get one for around $30.

You won't be able to see the spoiler in a cabriolet while driving, unless you're really tall. And no, the light doesn't come on when it deploys.

There are mods that put a manual switch on your dash, and someone on Ebay sells something that lights up when the the spoiler is deployed. I don't think either is very necessary, but if you have time and like to work on your car, these might be good mods to do.

In my 2003 C2, I can check if the spoiler is up because it goes up just high enough for me to see the word "Porsche" at the bottom of my rear windshield almost disappear. (letters are black, car is black: makes the black letters hard to read against the backdrop of a black spoiler).

MY2000 cabs have a plastic rear window.

Seems like this is very common from what I've heard.
I have it too.
Seems to be a non-issue but it's a nuisance nonetheless
