My first 996, suggestions?
Hey everyone,
Just inherited my uncles old 02 996 with 52k miles on it. This is my first time joining an auto forum but I need suggestions.
I had an 06 acura Rsx before this but i'm only 21 and need some help on what first mods I should get? (preferably only a couple hundred dollars but worth it)
I'm located in Seattle and I'm also wondering where a good shop would be to take it into to get parts installed.
Thanks guys

The best mod ive done so far is exhuast... I posted some videos recently and only spent $400. Others opt to spen $1000 plus on this but found a cheaper way to do so... good luck!! you will absolutely LOVE the 996!!

Yep don't worry too much about doing custom work right now just drive the snot out of it (safely...).
Most custom work on a P. gets expensive pretty fast, so ya might want to become a purist for now (those whom feel nothing is better than stock...rightttt ) that doesn't cost too much .
All jokingh a side, get the Fister D hack done, little $ big sound .
ENJOY!
Sid.
BTW... PICTURES!!!

Just drive it a lot (a 02 996 with 52K is not really that old). Gently tiptoe in the modification pool as it is a slippery slope and very deep. With a couple $100's there is not much you can do to modify the car other then join a the local PCA and participating in some DE events. Porsche modifications usually start at $1,000 and go up (way up) from there.

1. Check all the bushings, motor mounts, serpentine belt and other age realted wear parts.
2. Join PCA and learn to drive the car and it's limits.
3. With 52,000 a clutch will be in the near future and more than likely, a rear main seal.
4. Enjoy the snot out of it
These cars are rather good out of the box. The biggest variable is the driver. Be safe.

+1 on these suggestions, especially joining PCA and start going to Driver Education events. You think you know how to drive, after 30 yrs of DE i am beginning to find out how much I dont know.
as for hardware, look into GT console delete. it removes the console your right shin rides on.
other than that, check the wear parts and do the Preventive Maintenance. it is always 1/10th the cost of restoration.
good luck post pictures.
