Back of replacement brakes different, should I care?

I'm about to replace the front and rear brakes of my 99 C2 Cab. I took out the pads everywhere only to find out that the Minted Red Box that I bought are not quite the same. The size is the same so they will fit, but the back of the brakes I have in (I assume OEM) have these things coming out of them, and the replacement Mintex don't.

Is this normal? Should I be worried?

I attached pictures. Thanks!

Thanks! What adhesive should I use to glue them to my new pads?

Make sure you clean them very good. Then you can buy some CRC INDUSTRIES DISC BRAKE QUIET ANTI-SQUEAL PASTE.
Second option would be to buy new shims from the dealer.
Third option would be to leave them off. Lot's of people do that too.

Is option 3 a smart thing to do? what's the downside? Will my brakes squeal more? It definitely sounds like the easier option

Thanks!

Some say the have no issues by leaving them off and others say they will squeal every now and again.
I re-used mine but cleaning them SUCKED!! Acetone, brake cleaner, and a chemdip tank. Plus a lot of elbow grease. Next time I would just buy the parts new from the dealer. Some say the parts have been discontinued. If so then there would be no need to put them back on.

Those are separate pieces, not part of the brake pads. You don't need them. Many folks that hit the track don't use them, I haven't for the last 5 years or so.

I just pried the old ones off and reused them as is. The only thing I do is spray some brake cleaner on it and shoehorn them right back in. No adhesive to the backing plate is necessary.

I just put the new brakes in without the shims. I'll flush the brake fluid tomorrow and I'll see if these new many squeal soon enough. Thanks to all for the help!
