my c32 beats sti's on top end easily, e55's kick the **** outta me, and the 996 turbo beats e55's. consistently, not just from logic derived from one race and one condition. usually i don't like that type of "and therefore" logic, but you can't deny the superiority of the 996 turbo. it's an honor for the sti at like 35k to be even compared to e55 or 996 turbo, for that it is truly a great car value. the sti is impressive off the line launch, but look at the trap speeds, they don't stand a chance anything otherwise in the straightline versus e55's or 996 turbos. no disrespect to sti's at all, they are great cars for what they are, and a super bargain for their high level of performance. but, you cannot compare it to a porsche 996 turbo, especially with the logic that sti > e55 > 996 turbo. this is a porsche board and you would think there is bias in responses, but, the facts don't lie. sti is great from launch but can't beat e55 or for that matter a 996 turbo

Ummm, I've raced both Sti's and the Kompressor E55's. Neither stood a chance. The E55 is one damn fast saloon tho.
