With the new AVIC-N2 and AVIC-D1 (double din) you cannot make it play while driving
Just as i mentioned above! I heard that it has something to do with Pioneer recognizing this issue and using the speed sensor to montior whether the car was in motion...damn bastards! I'll let everyone know once the hack comes out...and it will

I'll check my PM's right now...

Guys, just spoke with my friend, the unit is actually Brand new - he never opened it

Eclipse 5435 - price is $1750 (guess it went up since it's not used) - just talked to him.

Thanks - I'll post it up in the classifieds as well.

Mine works without any issue at 100mph.

Bumble: Actually you can use the AVIC while driving. I figured out that it's the parking brake that the unit monitors, not the speed, so just click the parking brake handle up a click or two and it works with no apparent drag on the brakes (as far as I can tell). I love my AVIC N1 (the N2 came out 1 month after I got mine) as it replaced a very high end Nakamichi head unit and I cannot tell the difference in sound quality. I'm running several amps, with custom built subwoofer setup in the back, so now I have great audio, along w/ nav/dvd/mp3. Good luck.

Topspn - I'm referring to the AVIC 2, it's easy to bypass on the AVIC 1.

The AVIC 2 uses new technology.

Funny...The Matrix is in the deck of my Kenwood right now!!!! Here is mine, with fingerprints on the touchscreen...lol....

Heres another pic....The thing I like about it over the Eclipse is that when you start the car the panel tilts so you can see the screen better, the eclipse stayed flay all the time, if I am not mistaken.

It monitors the switch on the parking brake. So if you pull the brake up one click, it will work while driving, or you can simply feed power to the lead so it thinks there is a signal going to the dash saying the light is on? That's my next mod, but I have been too lazy to do it since you can just pull the brake up one click, and I never actually watch anything while driving....

I have the avic n1 in my other car and it plays dvd and tv just fine while driving (prefer my alpine set up). the new avic n2 can be bypassed to play up front by tapping into the rear monitor of the unit.

I have the avic n1 not the n2. My stereo guy told me the n2 is easy to bypass as stated above.

I noticed that there are ALOT of refurbed AVIC-N1s on EBAY. What gives? It almost seems like a disordinate amount of them...are there quality/reliability issues that people are aware about? Should a future buyer be concerned?

Question for the experts: When I owned my '00 996. The Pioneer head unit I installed was not compatible with the CD changer. Now I want to change out the head unit in my '02 996TT. Is there a head unit that I can get that is compatible with the CD changer and also have XM?
