How are the stock brakes supposed to feel?
I drove a 996 for the first time this weekend. Unfortunately he sold it a couple hours after I drove it. I had him to a price that was very close to what I wanted to spend.
Anyway, the whole car pretty much met my expectations except for the brakes. I found them to be better than an economy car of course but not as strong as my C5 Z06. They seemed on par with my LT1 Camaro I had a while back.
So are the brakes a weak point on the C2 or could they have just been weak on this one?
The car was a 2003 C2.

To be fair I am using Hawk HPS pads on my Z. The seller said the 996 had OEM pads. The difference in bite just seemed pretty significant to me. The pads appeared to be fairly new. I imaging when I do finally get my 996 I will be putting some Hawks on there.

I would be that it's not bad brakes on the car. What you are feeling is the difference between over-boosted brake assistance in your other car(s). The Porsche has an appropriate feel and actually as good (or better) than your Z06. However, you have to push the pedal down a little farther to get the same amount of pedal pressure. After you drive your Porsche for a while you'll get back into the Vette (or any other car) and wonder why the brakes are on a hair trigger!
There have been a number of threads on this here and Rennlist over the years. You can do a search to enlighten yourself if you have the inclination.

I see you are in Houston. Do you know anyone selling a 996? I am looking for more of a driver than a garage queen.
That's better than Barbara Walters.
