Radio receiving issues

i have an 02 model, and im having reception issues with my radio. Basically, when i drove it back from Philly back to NYC ( from the dealer) i noticed that the range was sort of too low to be picking up major radio stations from NYC. i figured that maybe thats the way it is in the Porsche. But then , when i did finally arrived in the city, i noticed that the strength of the signal is fading in and out occasionally. Something that i have never noticed in any of my cars unless somebody tampered with the antenna. And i think thats the case in my car. Theres a Sirius Radio installed on my car ( which i will take out) hopefully that will solve my issue, or is there something else i should be aware of?

Do you have an FM modulator for the Sirus Radio...I noticed that when I plug my Iphone FM modulator in the car...even if not in use!! the radio loses reception...seems that when the modulator transmits it messes up the other stations...uplugged it and all is back to normal

My AM reception is terrible. I'm 25 miles or less from 50,000 watt WFAN and can barely hear it. FM seems to be reasonable.

I think it could be the antenna configuration, especially on the AM stations. I put an aftermarket head unit in my 2002 C4S and my AM reception still sucks. Fortunately, my Sirius reception is great!

Im betting on Sirius radio too...I removed everything but the actual bypass of the antenna. I am awaiting radio removal tools to remove that bypass, hopefully that will help.

PS: What can i fit inside that hole that i have after removing the satellite controller. i know normally a CD holder goes there, is there anything fancier that i can incorporate?

If you're referring to the spot where the cd storage rack was, you can replace it with a cubby shelf. There are two types; upper and lower. You'll need the upper shelf - about $35.

Problem solved, it was the FM transmitter.

I don't have a FM transmitter and I have the same problem. My FM signal is crap. One minute it is strong and sounds great, then the next minute its static. My mechanic said its a problem with the CR220. He said he did a bunch of replacements in the early 2000-2004. He said I should do an aftermarket upgrade but it will cost big bucks due to the Bose system.

I have a 2002 C4 cab.
