Positively giddy

Guys, I was thinking today that it's been about 20 years since as a kid I bought a poster of a 911 and framed it and put it over my bed. That poster was in my room all the way through HS and went to college with me.

And this Saturday after lots of hard work and the inevitable ups and downs, and after finally buying a nice house for my wife and son, I'm finally going to be picking up my first 911 (and first Porsche). I can't begin to tell you how lucky you guys are and how I look forward to joining your ranks.

I have a co-worker who has been a Porsche fan for as long as I have. She just got her first management slot so it may be a few more years before she can afford one. But she's more excited about this Saturday than I am! She's coming with me to be the official photographer for the "event". (She gets to drive the car in return, but she says she's scared she might "hurt it")

Anyway, just wanted to share in case any of you forgot to appreciate how lucky you are today.

Now do you think my wife will let me put that old poster over our bed?

Congrats. Bet you can't wait for Saturday! 20 years. Awesome.
My first picture went up on the bedroom wall 40 years ago and I picked mine up on 9/15.
We all are so fortunate.

Thanks. I was just thinking my son is lucky. In 14 years when he gets his license he's going to have a nice car to drive around.

Thanks. I decided to start with the C2 after driving that and the C4 and talking to the salesman and some other people. The GT3 was out my range for now. But I'll try to work my way up the ranks.

For some strange reason my Porsche dreams always included full leather, so I got that and PSM, Litronics, 18 Carreras, Painted Caps, Heated Seats, Dimming Mirrors, Hifi

She's Seal Grey/Black.

Congrats!

I was the same as you as a kid, I drove my parents crazy. They hauled me to car show after car show and I would sit there drooling. I had all of the press books etc., received countless matchbox replicas, models, posters, you name it. I still remember ordering a poster from Pirelli of a yellow 911/930 with the caption "Our original equipment is manufactured to perform at 160 mph. We think you'll find them more than adequate." Or something like that. I had seen it in a magazine.

There is also the story that when I was about 12 or so I saw a red 911 targa in Brooklyn. The license plate said CPA on it. I asked my parents what a CPA was and from that moment on that is what I wanted to be. So that is what I became and now I have my Porsche. My family is relieved.

Best of luck to you and enjoy it. I do every day.

Well, dealer called today with the bad news that the car won't be here by tomorrow (Sat), but I should be able to pick it up after work on Tues.

Keeping my fingers crossed...
