Get the drive on trailer that gets all 4 tires off the ground & you shouldn't have any problem. I used that combo to deliver new Saleen Mustangs to Ford dealers.

While not a 996... I had luck towing a Porsche out of the Sierra's with a U-haul after my coolant pipes burst in the middle of nowhere. LOL

I have used uhaul for several tows before. Never for a 996 but several other sports cars. I always check the trailer tires and you might consider blue tape for the front of your car and windscreen. I have never had a problem, but...
I am sure you have towed before but just incase, go a little slower, extra space between you and others. Take care.

You will need a 2x8 to drive the front wheels onto otherwise the front lip will not get over the trailer wheel stop. (see pic on other post). You will also need rear straps, for there are none on the trailer. The trailers generally pull straight and have towed my car from Boston to Watkins Glen several times.

I put mine on backwards - no problems what so ever.
