So... what do the cables exactly do?

 

they allow anyone to use there smartphone via the aux input on there car for sirius or pandora or as an mp3 player. see me new pics for the 996 setup that they just finished they can add aux input to most headunits..

 

there 996 Kit comes with a connector to plug directly into the OEM head unit. I think they offer one for the PCM I also

The kit i got comes with 3 cables....headunit to female, 2 cables one for ipods and mp3 players, and a cable for smart phone.

 

What is the difference between these and normal aux. Input cables?

 

They are compatable with smart phones, they allow the ability for audio to be transmitted, seperate from video or mic channels, regular cables dont work with blackberrys or othersmart phones as one of the audio channels ends up mixing with the mic. channel.

 

This is an AUX cable, as far as i can tell there is nothing "special" about it..not sure what all the excitment is about- I have one that cost $20 which plugs into the back of your radio instead of your CD Changer then you plug it into your ipod- iphone, or whatever you want..there is no diff if you plug it into an ipod or a "smart phone" will still work!

Plus those cables look too bulky, what are those? tow truck cables? lol

 

the smartphones use a 4 pole connector, i have tried many times to use normal aux cables, finally i found this one, basically what i was able to figure out on the web is that when you use a normal aux cable the the microphone positive shorts to one of the 2 audio positives, giving you horrible audio via one channel. this cable uses the proper 4 pole connector for use in smartphones. Please note that the problem i stated above is for my blackberry. i know all other smartphones use 4 poles, but maybe others are smarter.

 

I also think they are comming out with a less bulky connector....
