IMS Gaurdian
Anybody already install an IMS Guardian?
I just finishing catching up on my Panamera and Excellence and my local PCA magazines and read about the IMS Guardian.
Looks pretty cool and straight forward, technology that has been in military hilos since the 70's.
Thoughts? I am probably going to install one during my next oil change any warning is better than no warning a guess. When I had my Clutch redone 1500 miles ago I had my Indy check the IMS and everything looked good. 60K odo and running strong!!

I believe there was a reported alarm according to Jake. Not sure if it was real or false. Also if it was real I'm not sure if it was the IMSB since the IMSG monitors any ferro-magnetic material collected in the sump.
If you purchase one you get to access a special forum on his website for IMSG owners.
As for installations, plenty have installed... there were over 300 pre-sale units sold alone and already shipped (and probably double that by now). Certainly those are not just sitting in garages. There are folks that frequent this board who've done them.
It's a cool idea, and I was on the pre-order list but gave it up due to needing the money for other repairs. I will eventually purchase and install one even though I have LN mag drain plug and an LNE bearing.

Ummm......mine is.
I got in on the pre order, but pulling the sump pan without a lift is not on my list of fun things to do.
I'll get it installed this Spring when I do my annual oil change.

Perhaps it's because it's winter time and our rides are in hybernation?

Pulling the sump is not a big deal. You can do it with the car on Rhino ramps. Just make sure it gets cleaned real good along with the bolts and torque correctly. Use the correct sealant ( DreiBond or Loctite 5900). Actually that was the easiest part. Running the wire was a bit of a pain. I'm glad I got it because it can detect other impending problems beside IMS.
