None ruffled here. I just know the truth. I'll take the IS-F on the street or the track. No doubt. Again, is sukas the right phrase here?

Even when I drove a Corvette or my '69 Boss 302 Mustang, I never felt the need to prove to a Chevette owner that my car was quick. In my Porsches I feel the same. Nothing to prove......except that I can pay for a reckless driving ticket and lose 12 points and my license. Not worth it.

Who brings up "toyota" on Porsches forum....Please....Subscribe to Toyota forum and asked them about Porsche. LOL. Ever since toyota cut the supra in 98 and celica turbo in 94 and went on all economical corolla prowl, it makes me want to puke when i hear the word toyota or lexus being brought up.

It depends on the Unicorn. Don't get me started on Unicorns.

Hah

Sorry, I stumbled across this old thread from a google search, as I'm considering both cars. But I just had to post. What blinkered Porsche fanboyism there is here.

This was a result without even trying. (car and driver lap times)
http://www.lexusfforum.com/forums/ar...hp/t-3408.html
26 3:03.8 PORSCHE BOXSTER SPYDER LL3 2/11
27 3:04.0 CADILLAC CTS-V SEDAN LL2 11/08
28 3:04.0 FORD MUSTANG SHELBY GT500 LL2 2/11

34 3:05.6 PORSCHE 911 CARRERA S LL3 2/10
35 3:05.8 PORSCHE CAYMAN S LL3 2/10
36 3:05.8 PORSCHE 911 TURBO LL4 8/07

and you can be damn sure they are brand new porsches and not 10 year + old 911s!

Point is really. Maybe the porsche does handle better, maybe it doesn't. But don't be so arrogant as to dismiss an excellent brand, and an excellent car because it's not a porsche. it's not the pinnacle of handling and german engineering... Oh, and you can't be too snobby over a 12 year old 996 either, in fairness.

Number86, did you even read any of the threads in this post? I don't think the Lexus was "dismissed". Also, since you'd like to be fair, we're comparing the Lexus top end car to the entry level 911. How about a comparison to a 911 turbo or perhaps a GT2? As you can see from your own post, a Boxster Spyder was faster than the Lexus.

I love all these threads that spit out lap times and expect people to take it as bible. There are way too many variances to distinctly say one is better than the other. Even if you used the same driver, track temp, and same tires, some cars are simply suited to certain tracks better than others.

Of course tracks that cover a mass variety of track deviations would be a better judgement like the Nurgburgring but certainly not the end all either.

Most of these types of threads are started by trolls anyway...

It's a Porsche board... wouldn't you expect the members to biased towards Porsches?

Porsche forum....Porsche fanboy...Porsche fanatics... yep. Better that than a "stumbled across" this old thread to be a troll. Just let me know when the Lexus has a 50+ year racing heritage that overshadows the proven capabilities of the Carrera (in any form). Otherwise leave me and my blinders (blinkers) alone. Gotta go jump in my - fastest Nurgburgring time ever recorded when it was released - 170 mph, daily driver. Not bad. Not bad at all.

lol so much disdain for the F in this thread! This is not comparing the Lexus' top end car...that would be the LF-A. I agree it's silly to compare cars that are very different and have decades between then but if the OP is looking to get into either one it's a legit question.

Have any of you disregarding the car actually driven an IS-F? It is by all accounts a fantastic machine (especially for their first try!). That said it's not a coupe sports car, it's a sporty sedan. One of the reasons why I sold it and got a boxster spyder . Really though, it's all about the driving experience you're looking for. For me I missed being in a nimble little mid engine car. However, for the price of an IS-F it's hard to beat the torque burst at 4k rpm and the lightning quick shifts.

also for whoever quoted the rated 13 second 1/4 mile time it's actually 12.6 if you can drive, and simple bolt-ons will get you into the 11's.
