1st time owner
Hi Guys (and Girls I'm the proud owner of a 2000 Cab. Just hit 58k miles. I've owned it for about 5 months now, and the only work I've had done on it is new front brakes/rotors (ouch, that was pricey). The previous owner (original) was pretty meticulous on maintenance so I know it's been well taken care of. Since this is my very first Porsche (been a dream since I was a kid), I want to make sure I do everything correctly maintenance wise. Is there a good guide out there somewhere on scheduled maintenance? I know the manual has some guidelines, but I thought I'd go straight to the everyday drivers out there. Thanks so much for any insight.

Congrats and welcome. Glad you're enjoying your Porsche.
I drive my 996 every day, and it just rolled 110,000 miles. I follow the Porsche recommended maintenance schedule, and that has worked well for me so far!

Nice Looking! I would do a couple things even prior to your 60K service (plugs, belt, etc.) I would do an oil change and pick the best 5W-40 you can find: Castrol, Amsoil Euro, Pennzoil Euro. Look for one with high ZDDP to protect your hot, high revving engine. I would also send a sample to Blackstone to see how things are doing within your engine and start a baseline for future. Go to Blackstone oil analysis via google and ask for your free sample kit...they'll mail you a couple. Congrats and good luck! You'll have a blast in it.

Thanks so much ParkCity. Exactly the kind of advice a novice like me needs. I've never loved a car this much. It's so fun to own
