Parkcity911 is infamous around these parts

Okay, so my car is in for a big service. My Indy tells me my IMS bearing was tight as can be. The RMS was not leaking at all, but my clutch was toast.

My question is, did Porsche outsource these original IMS bearings from Japan. It has the seals and is not open, but I swear this is some type of upgraded bearing / but it did have the inner snap ring? Any ideas? The new LN bearing also says Japan on it, but has no snap ring?

I just went to the LN site and apparently it has the same Japan stamp on the "old" bearings they show. I'm actually glad mine was in good shape at 75,000 miles as not metal chunks have blown through my engine. Now I figure I'm good for another 75,000...or until something else kills this engine. The Indy said the chain tensioners and engine interior looked good for 75,000 miles...what a relief. More pics in my other thread on cost, etc.

Sorry, but I'm a little confused. Are you saying that you removed your IMS bearing and put it back in it because it looked good? That seems penny-wise and pound-foolish.

Yes, I replaced it with an LN unit. It was kind of bitter sweet to see mine in such good shape. I guess luck of the draw. Only 10% have issues, so I guess good odds it was good. But, while doing all that labor anyway, I would recommend that anyone spend the $600 and put in a new one that has been tested to last much longer. Tomorrow the RMS and others get done. I'll send more pics as I get them.
