Seeking a place to drive really fast!

Hi!
I want to find a place to go really fast in my 996; I am looking for a long straight road like a closed runway. Is there such a thing available in the northeast?
Thanks!

I agree. Best place is a racetrack after some instruction on how NOT to injure yourself or the people around you! Call up your local chapter of PCA for their schedule of "driver education" events in your area. I also highly recommend Skip Barber if you want to take it to the next level. Good people and camaraderie at each.

I'd also recommend some autox experience too. This will give you some valuable car control skills that you will use on the track later.

I'll agree with the racetrack! Just be very careful! If you like to drive fast you will likely be hooked after the first session. Then you'll want to sell everything that isn't bolted down in your house to pay for your new habit and mods to support it

The salt flats...not quite the northeast, but you can go as fast as you want for just about as long as you want.

You don't need to go anywhere. There are plenty of tracks near you. Join your local Porsche club and the PCA and get involved in the number and kind of track time you desire. Plenty of people herein will tell you what the cost of "bumping" it up to 100 or 120 on the street is. Too much. Do it on the track. That or ship it to Germany for a week and hit the autobahn.

Thanks for all of the replies. I am not talking reckless driving here. Driving lessons are of course good to do. When I say "fast" I mean probably 120+, i.e. exploring the top half of my speedometer! :-) Looks like the PCA club is one way to get on a racetrack although I have a cabriolet and I don't think they allow cabs without the rollbar extended. I was looking more for a closed runway in the northeast that can be used for straight unbridled sprints.
