EIBACH or H&R Springs or what?
I will be picking up my 2003 996 with the GT3 bumper on saturday. I don't want to wait till later to lower it and need to do something in the next 2 weeks.
I do plan on doing PSS9 later this year or early next year and will sell the springs I put in on ebay then.
Which ones are better, Eibach or H&R or I think there is another brand sold by racers group.
I just want to lower the car and maybe clean up the handling a bit.
Thanks,
Corey

yeah if you can..get the PSS9's..I saw a new set on ebay for $1700 I think....but if you MUST get springs, I think I would go H&R...I had Eibachs on my Boxster and the front settled too low, lower than rear, the ride was harsh and it got bouncy. The handling was fine on smooth roads, but on rough surfaces, high speed sweepers were a nightmare because the car kept bouncing through the corner, and the amount of grip constantly changed. My PSS9's are an entirely different animal. None of those issues.

Cory,
(reference sake)
The H&Rs spring range is 180-240 for front and 250-295 for rears.
Eibach spring rate is Fronts 114-200 and rears 177-303.
You may also be interested into ROW springs which should avoid any warranty issues. (170 front and 260 rear)
Here is a good article comparing US & ROW sport springs

i love the ride of my PSS9, i won't choose
anything else, like everyone said, save yourself the headache , money, and the possible harsh drive.
Mine drives beautifully even though it's low, i don't get the feelign it's rough at all, just solid feelling..

If my cayenne wasn't coming in this month I would do the PSS9, but that isn't an option unless I want to buy my wife a nice gift.
As for the labor, I have been quoted about 400 bucks for a spring install with alignment. So I don't concider it much of a waste if I can sell the old lowering springs when I get the PSS9, so my total would be about 700-800 dollars vs. 2300-2500 dollars for PSS9 installed with only $400 dollars wasted for the install.
How much does ROW springs lower the car?

The word is you should install new shocks as well....to compliment the new spring rates. This is why it gets pretty close to PSS9's....now you can install springs only, but you may not get the full benefits or best handling characteristics.

If you already have US 030, can you subsitute the ROW 030 springs? In other words, are the US and ROW 030 shocks the same and the springs are different, or potentially visa versa? Or are they just totally different springs and shocks?

quote from the Panorama article
The Rest of World (RoW) cars with standard suspension are on average 10mm lower in the front than the USA cars while the RoW sport suspension cars are 20mm lower in the front and 10mm lower in the rear.

Hmmm.... From that article it looks like the US 030 shocks and the ROW 030 springs could be the hot setup for street driven 911's...
I have the US 030 and it's as stiff (if not a little too stiff) as I would like the car to be. The US 030 shocks are softer than the ROW 030 but the spring rates look the same.
So I could potentially swap out the US 030 springs for ROW 030 springs and have basically the same ride and handling with a lower ride height and stay all Porsche?

WAIIIIIT!!! being a previous owner of a full RoW M030 suspsension, i will opine. the article does list everything you need to know and I assure you that the handling of your car will be improved over your current oem setup. what you should know is that it hardly lowers the ride height, so if you're looking for a real "lowered look" the RoW M030 is not the best application for the job. i have yet to hear any negative comments on PSS9 but have read enough objections on "spring only" setups (H&R springs without new matched shocks). i would wait until being able to afford the PSS9's, and if you cannot, i would at least get new shocks with the H&R springs.
have fun!
