Oh No over rev!!! Help
Ok,
Me and the "car" were out playing around on the twisty turnies here in Brandon and I accidently took her to 7100 -7200 rpm's in second It was a total accident, but when she got there she skipped like the clutch was slipping, and I immeadily up shifted. So, I drove her home still pushing rpm's to 6k and she was perfect! Question, did I hert her? She has brand new oil and all fluids. Driving home she didn't miss a beat.
Is she ok?

Your fine. Don't do it again! But you will know if you damaged her, the transmission would have exploded or you would have Oil/Coolant pouring out your exhaust.

I will not! It really scared me, the 928 I had years ago had little warning lights when you got close to the redline.

No problem whatsoever. You hit red line and the electronic rev limited kicked in, which is exactly what should happen. There is very little risk of damage doing this, since Porsche designed the engine to rev and set the limit at a safe level.
The overrevs that hurt are when you mis-shift--like going from 5th to 2nd instead of to 4th. The electronic rev limiter can't help you there. These "money shifts" are what you absolutely must avoid.

Yup -- sounds like you hit the rev limiter. Shouldn't be a problem. The "sputtering" feeling is how the car keeps you from going over the limit -- perfectly normal. In fact, I would say it's really no problem if you do it again -- happens pretty often to people at the track. The only thing you want to really avoid is shifting too far down into the wrong gear by accident and forcing the engine to go past the rev limiter (that's bad news -- hence the term "money shift").

Thanks Guy's
Hey,
I made it up to her today, a nice warm bath with Zymol clear, then a second bath with Zymol wash, and then 3 nice masages with Zymol cream. And then a nice rub down inside with Zymol leather conditioner.
Thanks again, we were sad at the time, I don't want to do anything to hurt my baby, I love her.

When I took my 996 out to the track last weekend I kept hitting the limiter coming around the bend in second into the straightaway, shifting to third it just all seemd to work....I just didn't worriy about it. I love the limiter since this way I know I am getting the Revs. Gaol of course is to shift just before.
