New MAF time? - P1128/P1130

A little over a week ago I installed a K&N CAI ( yea, yea , I know). Soon afterword I got the CEL. I read the codes and it was P1128 and P1130. I checked all the connections, reset the CEL and just a few miles later the CEL is back with the same codes. I then removed the MAF and cleaned using MAF sensor cleaner. The CEL appeared again. I then re-installed the stock air-box and reset the codes. Out for a drive today the CEL is back. Also cleaning the MAF I just sprayed the cleaner at the opening at the bottom.

I guess it is time for a new MAF.
It is just strange to me this occurred after the K&N install. NOTE: I did not oil the filter prior to the install and the kit was new.

Clean maf, reinstall stock intake to ensure its the maf. It could be air disturbance around maf. The stock systems have air flow straighteners built in. Many blame it on the oil filter but some have the same problem with dry filters due to air disturbance.

If you read my post all your suggestions were done. Along with verifying the oil cap seal and a visual check for cracks in the oil tube. Also gentle suction in the oil tubr with the engine running and the cap off.

Maybe the moving the MAF from one intake to another damaged it. I think it is original to the car at 67k miles.

I get the same 2 codes.....ONLY if my K&N filter gets dirty. Once I clean it after a few thousand miles when it starts to get black, goes away. I have a Fabspeed kit, I actually think it is a ATI filter that comes with it. I also at first thought it was the MAF, was not for me. With yours, I might check to see how much oil was on the filter since it was new. Most come pre-oiled. Did you add more oil to yours when it was new?

Have you tried to reset the codes and see how long it takes to come back?

I have reset the codes and they return in about 30-40 miles of driving. Also my mileage seems to be suffering.

The filters come pre-oiled from k&n. I would get the AEM dry filter and clean the MAF. If you still have the same problem, you should buy a new one. I was driving my car one time and fried the MAF,changed the filter and the sensor and no problems for about 3 years now.

I am back to stock now as far as the air filter is concerened. I gave the MAF a real good cleaning today. I will try it one more time before getting a new MAF from Pelican.

Turns out my issue had nothing at all to do with my intake. I had a hole In a vacuum line to my brake booster. Well I have a backup MAF now.
