I have just owned one 996 and had the IMS failure in the first year......Ended up getting a new engine. Ill be putting in a Retrofit IMS when I do my clutch.

Thanks for the info. I have had my car for three years and no oil leak or any indication of things going "south"

Yea sounds like good peace of mind to do the LN IMS upgrade & RMS while you're in there doing the clutch.
I looked at a 996 with ~50k on the 'dealer installed motor' and this sounds good but I would probably still do the LN IMS & RMS as the motor is of OEM spec.
