yeah i picked up a used tpc kit and the oil return line was so brittle from the heat it just cracked when i bent it. I need to find a replacemnt that can handle the heat. It was even heat wrapped but I think the turbo compressor just needs a heat jacket.

That is seriously nice! Looks so damn pretty you don't want to install it anywhere it cant be seen...lol. You need some serious fuel to get the HP you want. The stock 996 system will handle up too 500HP. I believe I have 660cc Injectors, stock fuel pump, I run 4.5-5.5 psi of boost and I believe looking at my Air/Fuel Data I could push up too 7.5 psi. But the car is quick enough for me with 470hp.

Vivid Racing has it right now doing body stuff, I'm installing a GT Street RS Body Kit, swapping from a Precision Turbo to a Garrett Turbo and attempting at add additional cooling fans to my intercooler.

you know i love the looks of the vivid turbo kit and how they developed a way to use an air to air intercooler. What are your intake temperatures like? I know you mntioned hat you are using a meth inj. so I'm sure that helps out when you need it.

you might also look into diffrent deck wing setups that could possibly bring more cool air into the intercooler. here were some decklids with scoops that i have seen.

The GT Street RS Body Kit they are installing for me now has a nice rear deck lid, its higher like a duck-tail and has air inlets. I will have to hook my Durametrics up and get some Air Temps for you. They are looking at adding some cooling fans under my intercooler also. The Methanol Injection works pretty good, on 4.5psi on boost with 630cc of Water/Meth i saw a 30HP & 20TQ increase.

Stock M96 (3.4L) can handle up too 500hp, over 500hp you will need internal mods, mostly cylinder sleeves.

Now I wouldn't recommend boost a high mileage engine, over 100,000 miles your asking for problems but on a low mileage or built engine like mine you will have no problems.

Im pushing 470hp at 4.5 lbs of Boost and happy with it.

Power with the C2 trans (G96), not the engine.

470chp or 470whp?
what is your peak torque?

I have a 99 C4 AWD.

On a Mustang Dyno she put 402hp and 368tq to all 4 wheels. The 996 has a 17% loss in drivetrain, that puts it at 470hp and 430 ft/tq at the crank @4.5psi of low boost.

That's awesome! Any worries about trans failures?

None why? The M96 Manual Transmission is very reliable, there is little build difference between it and the Turbo Transmission other than Gear Ratios. I have never had an issue with my syncros or anything.

the g96.00 and g96.01 are both pretty durable gearboxes built by getrag but there is one downfall about them which is that the gears are pressed on and not positioned into place like the g96.50's gears.
So that would be my only worry, but i have not heard of a situation where pressed gears have slipped.
Great thing is that alot of kit cars are using these transmissions with ls1 v8's and have not seen any issues other than the norm.

Thanks for the info, it's very reassuring for adding power.

Mine is only 470hp, I have a AASCO Lightweight Flywheel and SRE 500hp Clutch and shift properly, I don't slam gears or miss shifts. I believe 500hp on the transmission is not problem.

No once you get into huge power, 700-900hp even the turbo cars have problems. I have read and seen plenty of posts about guys damaging transmissions.

Even in a Turbo car, you put down 700hp+ and hard launch every time and slam gears, you going to break something over time, either transmission or axles. But that is the price to play. Back in the day, I had a fully built MR2 Turbo and I snapped axles several times and went through several clutches.

I do like to open the Porsche up from time to time but also I dont show off in it and dont beat it up.

I have already learned her limitations, she is a fast street car, not a drag car or track car.

can you give me more details on the ductile cylinder liners?

I have read quite a bit on them and they are supposed to be really good but I keep getting concerned about expansion rate between the aluminum case and iron cylinder liners.... slipped liners ect....

The rover V8 has a pretty good track record of slipped liners in there aluminum block V8.

Did you look at the Nikasil liners from LNE?

Also, what pistons will work work with these cylinders ?

Another thing, where did you get your oil feed from .
