1 Reverse light issue HELP!!!

So when I reverse only one reverse light comes on (driver side). I removed the light socket (while it's in "ON" position and reverse gear) so I can see the light on. I tried moving the bulb while in the socket and give it a flick, it suddenly lights up.

So then I put it back, drive the car then later on it stops working again...

It's frustrating how many people tells me my light is out!

I know it's not the "reverse light back up switch" because the other light bulb works. And I've replaced that last year when it went out on me.

If you wiggle it and it comes on there is a bad connection somewhere. First try replacing the bulb, it may not be making a tight connection. Be sure the socket is clean as well. If this is a no go, then it's in the wiring to the socket, so wiggle the wires to see which one makes it come on or go off and that's the bad one.

If you can wiggle the bulb and it lights up, my guess is you have a bad socket. I believe the socket has a spring underneath the contact point that makes contact with the bulb. The spring can loose its tension making for a loose fit.

As stated above it's probably a bad connection in the socket.

+1

I had the same problem. I tried to pull the spring out to make contact that did not work. A friend had a wiring harness from an old car. We cut one of the sockets and used it for my problem. Works perfect now.

Thanks guys for the input. I will try all the possibilities. I hope I don't have to replace the whole socket assembly. It cost about $150+ for the whole socket as one piece including the brake, turn signal.
