Install LED DRL for 996

Anyone install the Phillips 8 light led drl on their 996 lately?I was wondering how hard it is to hook up and where to run the wires to?

Has anyone listed a step by step process for installation with possibly picture s, that would help out greatly as i could pass on to others that are looking to do the same.

i have a 2002 996 C2

Thanks in advance,
brian

I had these on my car with a GT2 replica front bumper.

Looked pretty legit. I tapped into my side marker lights and ran the wires up through the bumper ducts, under the headlights.

The only dissapointing thing about phillips DRL8's is.... my battery died a few weeks ago. When the voltage dropped; it took out my side marker fuse (which took out my rear tail lights too). So i was driving around at night with the back of my car pitch black.

After i replaced the fuses though, my drl8's had burned out --

There goes 200 bucks. Id probably put a separate fuse in the drl line.. prob 5 amps or less.

install led drl for 996

Not sure how to mount them as well. i have a stock c2 bumper and the front open duct is pretty curved so maybe i will mount the bracket in it but would you mount to the top of the opening or just lay it flat and mount in the middle of the opening?

Next, i really am unsure where to run the wires from the drls up through where because i do not see any openings or areas where i could run them through(do i need to drill through the black plastic?) i am kinda confused here?? HELP!!!

Since we do not have that much fog out here, I converted the fog lights of my 99 C2 to DRL's.

I basically disabled the original wiring connections of the foglights and purchased a DRL AUTO SWITCH RELAY on ebay (those relay type with harness that connects to the battery directly and turns on the DRL's automatically when the ignition is on and off when the ignition is off).

I then replaced the yellow H7 halogen bulbs to H7 WHITE LED Bulbs.

Surprisingly the setup served its purpose. DRL's without modifying the vehicle too much.

i didnt have an orange wire when i got the DRLs. just red and black.. unless you're talking about the control box that auto-dimms the LEDs at night.

I didnt install the auto dim box since i cant turn my headlights on/off anyways lol.

yes, i am talking about the box, the orange wire comes out of it as well and i think you are supposed to hook it up to the parking lights but that part of the hookup i am unclear on.
I have the Phillips 8 Light drls and it says in the instructions to hhok it up with the supplied one touch connector and to find the parking light wire?? that is where i get confused..all wires are connected..where do i find a spare parking light wire??

two things you could do...

1. cut the side marker wire and splice into it.
2. jam the wire into the positive lead of the side marker bulb contact.

i actually jammed both wires for my DRL (without the dimmer box) straight into the bulb socket. then secured it into the sidemarker housing by twisting it in.

so... i should run an extension wire from the end of the orange wire and tap into the parking light wire and that is all i have to do. the drls will then come on everytime the parking lights come on then and there will not be a problem with that new connection loosing juice to it?
