LIQUI MOLY OIL - is it ok for my 911?
I change my oil every spring after it seems we will not get any more snow. I don't rev up much until I put new oil because I only drive it about 2k mile/year.
I never heard of this brand, but it says it is Porsche A40 certified.
It is made in germany and the brand appears to be LIQUI MOLY.
It is fully synthetic 5w-40 which is weight I always put on. I have always used 9-1/2 quarts of Valvoline, Mobil and Gastrol synthetics. They are giving to me for free which saves some $$ and they tell me it is a top of the line oil
I already heard the 'oil is oil' which ...maybe, but not really. I had evidence of that while on a Porsche racing team many years ago. It made a huge difference.
Anyone has any experience or input on this oil brand?
thank you

Yes you should be fine, A40 in the new name for the old spec, the A40 is for gas powered cars, the C30 is for diesel.
Now, keep in mind "certified" is not "approved", the Synthol is not a Porsche "approved" oil, it's certified to meet the A40 spec by LM. Is this good/bad, not necessarily since LM has several, 4 I believe, on the "approved" list so this should be ok. Now also remember LM might not have wanted to pay the $$$ to get the "approved" stamp like Mobil did for the M1, which is the factory fill and recommendation, but frankly there are many other oils better suited for the Porsche flat six, I use Joe Gibbs Driven DT40 and it's not approved or certified but probibaly one of the better fills. If my car were under mfg warrenty I would use only M1 or another Porsche "approved" oil to avoind any hassels if something went wrong.
So, long story short, it's ok to use.

Thanks for your input.
It does not exist on the OPIEOILS.co.uk site.
I see that the Pedros Garage site has it. I am not sure I understand the table, but it looks like a number of LM 5W-40s were approved. None looks exactly as the jugs I have (like in the picture). I'll try it.
Thank you

Whats on the list is:
Leichtlauf Motorenol - Low viscosity engine oil
Top Tec
Nachfull - to fill
Pro engine motor oil
All are 5w-40 and meet the A40 spec.
I would bet what you have is a newer oil that replaces one of those or has been added to the line. In any case LM is a very good oil and I sincerely doubt they would market a product and indicate it meets the A40 spec if it was not up to par, use it you'll be fine.
Here is some more info from LM:
Our LIQUI MOLY SYNTHOIL PREMIUM 5W-40, part no. 2040, is a HC oil group III with a noack volatility 12%.
In former times we had an oil with the same part-no. that was a full synthetic oil group IV, but now we changed the recipy into this HC oil.

This one is part no 2041, so I have the same assumption. I went to a BMW site and some guys there were just raving about how great it was in COLD, so I am sold. It shouldn't hurt it. I probably won't do any DEs this year either. Thanks everyone - case closed. Appreciate all the input. Now...on the hunt for new used unbent uncracked rims and a Valentine one. No more Escort.

See-ya,
We use Lubro-Moly on all our oil-changes for high-end cars. Very good oil and designed to work well with high-performance engines. As others have pointed out, it passes the test for Porsche use, but they don't have the $$ to throw at having it be certified like Mobil1.
You should have ZERO issues in the 911.
