This is a joke, right? You're asking people on a Porsche message board if you should buy a Porsche?

Hey Guys dont be so quick to beat up on the SL-500. I think that there is a place for both of these cars, I am 33....NOT AN OLD MAN..... I have a 04 SL-500 and an 04 C2 with some goodies, I love both cars and they have 2 diffrent applications. Allot of times i love putting the roof down and just crusing, while there are others where i just want to beat up on the 911. The point of my reply is this , What are you going to use the car for, Why do you want from it, is it a daily driver, I am sure you have all these questions but Honestly they are both great cars.......I Love both.....life is too short buy both!

Old pic MY 911 is in the avatar now

i don't think anyone is beating up on the sl500. the sl is one of my favorite cars. but i think given the choice most people would pick the 911 for 2 reason. one this is a porsche message board and secondly most people want a sport car here.

i would so die for a white sl with red interior and 20 brabus multipiece wheels....

SL's feel unsporty they are mainly good for luxury (unless 55/65), but a Porsche will always feel sporty and still have a bit of luxury

I recently traded off a 19,000 mile 2001 996 TT and bought a 2005 Lexus SC430. One of the biggest mistakes I ever made. Not exactly the situation you're in but similar. Get the 997!

I hear that Mercs are down on the quality. I read that one guy went through 4 tops and 2 suspension with his SL. I'm sure not all are like that.

Then again, 996s are going through engines.

Go with the 997S, it's awesome. It's dub "Baby GT3"

the press loves the new 997s. i have yet to see one bad review by anyone. they are saying pretty much it's closest to a perfect sports car. I totally agree. The problem with getting a porsche is yo want another one....

raja

ps. although i wished they had put the same build quality into the Cayennes. Wheel vibration and other minor issues are horrible. But i love the car.....

Come on, you can't post a question like this on a Porsche board.

I say get the SL.
