misfire multiplied
For the last week or so I've had a slight mis at low rpm which resolved itself or at least I I couldn't feel over 2k rpm. I ran techron fuel cleaner through the system and it definitely improved things but it wasn't perfect. I have 53k on the clock so I assumed the plugs were on their way out. I replace the plugs with stock but now I have misfires on #1, #4, #5, and #6! The car runs like crap as you might imagine! While replacing the plugs I noticed a number (4-5) of the coils had cracks in their body. I was concerned when I saw the cracks (most likely due to heat). Has anyone had their coil packs go bad on them, or am I going down the wrong path? Any advice would be appreciated before I drop a few hundred on new coil packs.
Thanks,
Shawn

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm not getting any error code on the MAF. I took a closer look at the cracked coil packs match up with the cylinders reported as misfiring. I'm going to pick up new coil packs ASAP. I'll probably try to come up with a better solution to shield the new ones from the heat of the manifold while I'm at it. The stock heat shield doesn't look particularly effective.

The coils on my turbo had small surface cracks when I changed the plugs. They are working fine, but I'm going to get them replaced under warranty anyway. You might try looking for carbon tracking with a magnifying glass.
