Idle Valve stuck?

Idle Valve stuck?
I turned on the car this morning and the RPM was at about 2200. Then when I started to drive, the RPM was jumping between 1000 - 2200 at "Idle". Everytime the car was on neutral the RPM was jumping up and down. Luckily a Porsche shop was nearby and I pulled it in. The mech said that the "Idle Valve" was stuck. I asked him if it was okay to drive and he said it was fine...the RPM will keep jumping but it won't hurt anything. I had an important meeting so I told him I will bring the car in tomorrow. When I pulled out of the shop, after driving about two blocks, everything went back to normal, whew!
Has this ever happened to anyone here? Will I need to replace the Idle Valve Sensor? It's only happened once (so far).

I took the car to Beverly Hills Porsche. They checked Idle Valve Control and said it was fine. They found the Carbon Canister to be bad and told me that could be what's causing the idle to fluctuate on cold starts. It will $650 to replace it. Does this sound right?

If the dealer replaced the carbon filter, ask him for the old one back. Extremely unlikely that this filter would go bad, and it definantely would not go bad without setting off the CEL and displaying the appropriate error code. You were most likely screwed by another guy who had no idea what he was doing. Either take the car to someone you can trust, or at minimum, keep a cpuple of tubes of K-Y in the glovebox.
I am not sure, but this is covered under the long term emision warranty anyway?
You can remove the ICV and spray it with carb cleaner. It is a 9, right?

Yes the CEL does come on and off...and I can feel a difference in performance when it's on. Beverly Hills Porsche is usually pretty good about diagnosing problems. They are far better than most dealers in the area. If I want to clean the ICV, is it easy to get to?
