Thinking of selling the SC300 for a 996
Hey guys,
I'm a friend of Shanks here in IL. I currently have a heavily modded 1993 SC300. Swapped 98 supra motor, 6spd, rearend, etc...
BIG turbo, fuel system, 8pt cage, ccw drag wheels.
Everything built by me I don't like anyone touching my cars! Except for some tuning.
The car dyno'd 879rwhp at 36psi on the stock intake manifold. Currently I'm upgrading and putting an SP intake mani on it, would should help on the top end for another 40 or so hp.
I have a baby on the way and am now at a point in my life where I want a bit more of a "cruiser" so I'm in the market for a 99'-01' 911 NA Cabriolet. I'm hoping for something between $35k-$40k. Do you think that is fairly realistic? I'm going to be selling the lexus on ebay shooting for mid $30's. Or trades if anyone is interested
Anyways, I know there are some things to do to an NA 911 but it seems like it's kind of limited, so I was wondering just personal feelings on the power level? I know it will be an EXTREME reality check to go from 800+ rwhp but I am just ready. Nothing really like a 911 with some deep dish wheels and some aero mods.
If anyone knows of anyone interested in a highly modded lexus like mine, please let me know. It's a bit of a "specialty" car, but I'm sure there is a butt for it's seat somewhere.
Thanks guys,
Chris

Chris, if you don't plan on modifying the 996 you'll certainly miss the power. I previously owned a BPU MKIV TT and although I love the handling of the Porsche I miss the power of the Supra....of course a supercharger or a small turbo on the 996 will get you in the same range (of a BPU Supra not your beast!).

That is my biggest fear Ubermensch I would be ok with a decent decrease in power, but 500hp is a bit extreme. Maybe I should just wait, get my car into mid 9's make 1000rwhp and sell it for more money, and pick up a 996 TT.
Are there any builders doing Turbo kits/customize for the 996 NA?

There are SC kits available ( http://www.evoms.com ) and I'm cosidering putting a turbo kit together but I'm not sure I have the time. I understand a few companies are working on the turbo kit as well but I haven't heard much about it.
