My 20GB iPod is hardwired directly to my Pioneer Head Unit. You can make your song selections directly thru the head unit and no FM modulator. Unit cost is $129 + head unit cost. Oh, and your CD changer becomes usless.

I have my Mini Ipod hardwired to my CDR-220 though the $25 Aux-In kit you can get from Becker. Disables your CD Changer, but I really don't have a need for it anymore, with 1000+ songs at my fingertips.. Got a slick Porsche-specific mount for it as well, looks stock.

I have my iPod mini in my center console hard wired to the Kenwood Touchscreen in the dash, I select from the touchscreen and song names and info are all displayed....it goes in to the changer input as well, but who needs a changer with a full iPod? The iPod Nano would be tempting to put in the non smoler tray, and the black would match my painted center console....but it would be exposed all the time....

You guys that can control thru the head unit are lucky. I should have bought a different head, but I was told that the eclipse was the best sounding. I emailed them to see if the unit could be integrated to display the info from the ipod and contol it, and never heard back.

Yea, now CDs are worthless.

I have the same setup with Alpine- Ipod in the center console, fully controlled by the head unit with the display on the head unit showing everything. It charges the Ipod all the time, so you can just leave it in the car all the time.

I got the new alpine w/ the slide screen, it's decent when connected through the ipod, but I've found most are a lot more difficult then changing the songs on the Ipod itself.

Here is the playlist menu where it lists your playlists like CD's in the changer.

Here is the main screen where you can control the iPod and its play functions....
