2-3 Shift Crunch under heavy load
Have any of you experienced a problem while shifting to 3rd from 2nd while under very heavy lateral load at the track? My car was slightly 'crunching' even though my clutch was 100% to the floor and I was shifting quite slowly.
The only times this happened where on the 2 places of the track where I was going up hill to the right.
The transmission has only about 2K miles and this was the first track event on it.

I have a similar problem, but not sure if it is me or the car. I always try to brake early and complete my downshift while braking in a straight line. Most of the time, heel/toe or not, the 3 to 2 downshifts are notchy, but they engage. Once in a while, I will miss the 3 into 2 downshift. For some reason, it just won't go into 2. Since the car is now approaching turn-in, I apply more brakes to slow the car down in a straight line, make my turn while trying to engage in 2 again from neutral, but it just will not go in. After the car has scrubbed off speed and while exiting the turn, I am then able to engage 2 again.
Couple possibilities:
1) Something is wrong with my transmission into 2
2) Once i miss the first attempt at the 3 to 2 downshift, i panick?
3) My braking moved my seating position and thus my location relative to the shifter, causing me to miss my gate into 2
4) After the initial miss into 2, with the car in the middle of the turn and lateral g forces, my percieved location of the 2 gear gate is completely off, hence it will not go in
I have found that if i am smooth, it tends not to occur. The funny thing? My wife says that she never had any problems with the 3 to 2 downshifts in my car and we just spent 2 full days on the track! Maybe she is a better and smother driver?

Actually, I think you're describing another known issue with the turbo transmission and that is that the synchronizer fork that handles that shift gets bent. It's typically a result of shifting from 1st to 2nd too fast over time (so the tech told me). This is common on the TT because 1st goes by so quickly that you have to grab 2nd in a hurry.
Eventually you end up with 2nd being hard to grab and then you'll experience the car popping out of 2nd under some lift throttle conditions. If the car's under warranty they'll replace the transmission.
Personally I'm not too impressed with the synchronizers in the turbo transmission. Seem a bit fragile for a 415hp car. I can tell you I NEVER slam shift my car and have NEVER done a clutch dump tire smok'n accelaration run. I always heel and toe with rev matching, even on the street.
Some people are telling me that my problem may be that because of the high lateral load at those points of the track and the high torque load at time of shift that the engine/transmission mounts are compressing and the transmission linkage is slightly out of alignment. Maybe solid motor mounts may help, although I'm not too crazy about compromising the drive quality of a daily driver.
