Relocated to Dallas

Due to Katrina I've relocated to north Dallas from New Orleans. Luckily my car and other toys were untouched by water or looters. I need suggestions on tuners/service in Dallas. I know RUF is here. Are they the go to shop?

Thanks.

I can't help with tuners/service. Dealership only for now because of warranty, but wanted to welcome you to Big D.

Thanks! Do you use the dealer that I've seen from the Dallas tollway? Have you been satisified with service? I'm extremely picky about who touches my toys. ... even interviewed a GF's gyno once! LOL <kidding of course>

Ruf is probably the way to go in Dallas, they know their stuff about Porsches.

Welcome to Dallas - glad to hear you made it safely. You have a couple of options in Dallas that I know a little about:

1. RUF - obviously Porsche experts, but I have no firsthand experience with them. I know they are tuners extraordinaire, but I don't know about prices and availability for regular service work.

2. 5th Gear (in Lewisville) - owned by an ex-Porsche tech, they service a lot of Porsches and also race a GT3, I have met them and were impressed with their knowledge

3. Boardwalk Porsche - the dealer you saw from the Tollway. No experience with them, just second hand info from my buddy from #4........

4. Park Place - new digs on Lemmon Avenue towards downtown. My neighbor and friend is the service director for Park Place Mercedes, and they just built a brand new facility for MB and Porsche w/163 bays, spent $50 mil on the whole shebang, and they have a good rep. For me, I go there, just because I know he'll help me out to make sure I'm taken care of.

Best of luck!

Todd

I'm like leftlane and go to Park Place Porsche. Love their new facility cause the old one sucked. I have always been treated fairly at Park Place (cross fingers) and have found them to be general less expensive than Boardwalk. I usually call to get estimates and have found that to be the case. A tip for you is if it is at all possible to wait onsite instead of getting a loaner, do it. It'll cost you a lot less than the book values they work from. They can't charge you for the time if it didn't take as long as the book value.

I have been to Boardwalk and have found to be generally good.

Park Place Porsche ... Downtown, brand new state of the art facility .... ONLY have DANNY work on your car, best Porsche mechanic in town. The other Porsche dealer can be seen from my backyard but I choose to drive to him ... Many dealers have been trying to steal him for years ... Welcome to DALLAS!

Thanks for the advice and welcomes. I'm finally getting to fly back to New Orleans next weekend. Hope 'ol girl starts after sitting for 5 weeks. Are there any meets around the metroplex? How about track days? I've yet to find decent motorcycle riding. Think I'll soon be a track hound with the bike and car. Time to test those PSS9's!
