anybody with a turbo front bumper want to trade center grills?
i'm looking for a turbo bumper center grill. i currently have a turbo bumper with a c4s center grill. it's designed more to fill the whole there as opposed to flow air over a radiator. i assume the c4s's don't have the 3rd radiator, at least as a standard feature.
anyway, i'm adding a 3rd radiator and i'm looking to see if anyone wants to trade. if you don't have a 3rd radiator, the c4s center grill covers that area nicely and it won't look so empty behind it. i'm trying to get a little more air flow over the 3rd radiator.
figured i'd check around for a trade before i go out and buy one.

Well, let's just say my car will be gulping extra air in the very near future. However, somebody slipped me a mickey and swapped my beverage for some of that EVO kool-aid Now all I can say is EVO. Who's TPC again?

All kidding aside, I still really like the TPC kit. I think it offers a tremendous power advantage over the EVO kit in the lower rpm range. It had a ton more low end grunt.
However, my dealer will install and back an EVO kit. That kind of put me over the top. Not to mention that the EVO/Giac programming does appear to offer some advantages with regards to timing and air fuel ratios. Not to say that TPC won't work. It will, and offers some some very very impressive power.
Here we go again with my however statement, but... aside from everything above, EVO is a board sponsor and does appear to be very willing to get involved when there's a problem. Not to say TPC wouldn't, but EVO seems to spend quite a bit of time on here.
If my wife didn't drive the car, I may have said F' it, and tried the TPC. But I really don't want to hear the grief from her if something should fail. So basically I'm trading some low end performance for proven reliabity. It was tough, but I knew I was going to get the "I told you so" speech from the wife if something blew up You'll never hear me badmouth the TPC kit. I'd love to see EVO do a roots charger with their programming though.
Both kits rock. I think the EVO is going to be a lot of fun too and will surely be a lot faster than a stock 996. I'm very excited and will post impressions after the install. I am going to make arrangements this week for some before and after dyno runs.
One other nice thing about EVO is that Todd always comes to the phone and doesn't mind answering all my pain in the *** questions
Now, who's gonna trade me their center grill?????

Say it ain't so!?!? I feel I've lost a brother....LOL. J/K!
I respect your desicion to go with the EVO kit becuase of the potential reliability advantage (not performance). In my opinion the EVO system will be "a little" easier on the motor for various reasons...however, this is my weekend warrior which i will track. I'm looking for outright speed and maximum bang for the buck (as long as that "bang" isn't my motor* lol). The TPC factory happens to be 30mins from my house. So customer support and a in-house installation are huge advantages I have that many others whom don't live IN MD don't. I pass by TPC on my way to work litterally daily. An EVO authorized installer is also nearby but not EVO itself* (so advantage TPC for my particular situation). I just wanted an unbias account for which was objectively faster, you gave me that. May the EVO SC give you years of supercharged fun! Just don't let me see you at a stop light...J/K!!! I'm sure you'd love the gains with either one...I just can't wait till they make bottem-end upgrades for M96 motors to make SC boost increases a reality***

If I lived as close to TPC, I may have gone that route as well. I just shuddered at the thought of having to ship my car to maryland if something went terribly wrong.
I will say this, having the install on either kit done at the dealer is a big plus. They've got those really expensive diagnostic computers that most independent shops either can't afford ,or won't spend the money on. I really like that factory tablet pc they plug into the OBD2 socket. I had my car in for the 15K and they were showing me how it worked. May come in handy for something as intrusive as a SC system and the inevitable check engine lights
We'll have to meet halfway for showdown Kev. Pink slips. Do I get a 3K rpm handicap?
kbliew: I'm at work, so I don't have a pic right now. I'll check on the web to see if I can find one. Basically, your standard turbo center grill is wide open like the side grills for air flow. Now the C4S grill is solid, completely covering the hole. The C4S grill is more for cosmetics since extra air isn't necessary without the 3rd radiator. It does have some small holes if I remember right. It looks really good as it covers up that gaping hole behind the center grill I specifically looked for the C4S center grill with the turbo lower lip when I bought my bumper. I'm not really a fan of the C4S lower lip.
I've heard some people complain about the hole behind the center grill after the turbo bumper conversion, so I figured somebody would want to trade.

why are you getting rid of your car? seems like you had it pretty well set up.
no more HP threads for me for a while. too much drama my buddy GaryFL has a EVO stage 3.75 car and it's really fast and very reliable. he hasn't had any problems so far.
so anybody up for a trade on that center grill????

well after talking to robyn. i have the need for more speed. after seeing what turbos are selling for at the auction i could buy one and mod the hell out of it. i have had a good year with my business so it's time to play and the c2 is maxed out. all im waiting for is the right color. and info on what hp kit to buy.

are u talking about all three grills? or the one at the center? There's a "hole" at the bottom of the turbo front bumper right behind the center grill and the pix doen't show how the C4s center grill cover up this hole. According to the dealer there's a piece of plastic air diffuser that will cover up that "hole" but it wont fit on the C2 or the narrow body 996. so i'm curious how the C4s center grill will cover up this hole. That's why i'm asking u for the pics.
