Rust on rotor hats
#2
Very common problem. Porsche used to replace them (rotors and all) but now they cheaped out and dealers simply paint the hats with high temp paint.
Requires a dealer visit, they remove wheels and mask the area completely, and spray.

Well, I mentioned it to the SA today and he said the rust is normal and I should live with it. I'll try to ask the other SA maybe. It seems like my dealer has a good SA and a not so good one. Or one that is more of a people person at least.

nova,
tell them it's not normal if/when the car is brand new. the cause to that is they use those acid wheel cleaner to wash the wheel & not wash them throughly. be sure after fix use only water & soap to clean the wheel & caliper.

But because every car at their dealership has this issue, they are saying it is normal and something "to live with".
If I can't get them to fix this, is there anything I can do to clean it?

yes. not so hard DIY. take out the wheel. nicely remove the rust using sand paper. carefully mask the car & calipers. spary with high temp primer (make sure it's light grey as stock. grey looks better!) accidentally spary on the rotor is fine as long as not too much, since the breaking is gonna take care the over spary.
i'll suggest u keep trying. my story was 2 of my rotors had rust on them. dealer repainted all 4 for me to color match them. after the job done the service manager didn't like the look, so he offered to replace all 4 of them.
