Looking into 996's, need some imput with years please

So lately i've been kicking around the idea that i'd like to buy myself a fun car. I've been looking at newer vettes/vipers etc and decided that i would love a porsche, as my uncles 1989 turbo got me hooked back in the day. Now i have capped my budget to a limit of 55 000$ i would love to spend more, but i need to invest in some projects so i cannot afford to waste more money on the car. This car will be a daily driver for all the days that are clear, and when the weather is bad, i'll drive the jetta around.

Now since this is an older car, i would love to find one with a certified warranty, but besides all that. What years can i look into that are not too problematic, i want something that will start in the morning and won't cost too much when it breaks. Can someone help me out with servicing costs? how much, when to do it? Also what is the max mileage i should buy the car with. I found one in montreal, with 87 000 km on it which is 54 000 miles, is this too high? what should have been done to the car so far? I don't know, i'm just kicking the idea around, as i don't wnat to buy the new z06 and lose 35% of value within a few years, i need to buy something used so if i need to sell when time comes to invest, i won't lose too much. Thanks a lot, i just hope i'll soon be able to join you guys as an owner.

Stay with a 2002+ car and for 55k you can easily get a 02-03 Carrera C2

don't forget i'm from Canada, i am not really sure if i want to go through the hassle of importing a US car, in Canada the prices are quite a bit high still for 02, or 03 cars, more like 65000 and up. That's why i'm looking at older models.

Yes, that's the bottomline.

The '02+ cars have improved engine (320hp), newer headlights, slight styling improvements and creature comforts like glove box and drink holder.
