Cracked windshield update....

I called my insurance company and they sent out a repair guy the next day. Fixed it at my house in 10 mintes. Its 90% invisible, you have to look hard to see it, and it's gauranteed not to spread, saving the windshield....All free of charge. So if you get a crack or chip in your windshield, your insurance company will pick up the tab for a repair.

newport - so you called your insurance company, and without paying a deductible, you got your windshield repaired? Can you PM me details, including who did the repair for you?

I just got a crack in mine today. As my lease ends at the end of the year, I'd rather not pay for a new windshield.

Out of curiosity, did you price out a replacement?

Thanks

FYI, most insurance companies will allow 3 claims per year of this type w/o penalty (check with your agent). Number of claims does not equal number of chips fixed. I've had up to 4 fixed at one time, counted as one claim. No deductable cost.

T, You know my wife says the same thing! LOL.....I will be hitting it pretty hard starting next week....About the widnshield....I went to a few places and couldnt find someone to do the repair until Steve's detailing said they USED to do it, but the market dried up because the insurance companies were doing it free....So I called, and sure enough, they will do it free, no deductable, and no negative repercussions, (like increased premiums)....The next day they had someone at my house and it was fixed in 10 minutes....The company that actually did the repair was Safelite Auto Glass. I have Farmers insurance. The repair is about 90% invisible, with maybe 1/8" crack, but it will not spread. Before the repair it was about 1/2" crack and a 1/4" chip....Now it looks like a bug or some dirt....
